Ghana rejects MTN’s $1.8m donation for victims of South Africa xenophobic attacks

The Government of Ghana has declined a GHS20 million ($1.8 million) donation from MTN Ghana intended to support Ghanaians affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Mahama administration has already made sufficient financial provisions for the evacuation and reintegration of affected citizens. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa clarified that the decision is not a rejection of MTN's gesture but reflects the government's existing arrangements to handle the humanitarian response.
