Academic activities have been disrupted in several state-owned universities across Nigeria as members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) commenced an indefinite strike over the non-implementation of the 2009 Re-negotiated Agreement. Affected institutions include Nasarawa State University, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Gombe State University, Plateau State University, Kaduna State University, Kano State University of Science and Technology, Northwest University, Taraba State University, University of Medical Sciences Ondo, Adekunle Ajasin University, and Ambrose Alli University. The strike follows a directive from the union's national leadership, and lecturers in the affected institutions have withdrawn their services.
