A recent analysis highlights the economic disparity within Nigeria, noting that Lagos State's economy, valued at N41.17tn (about $102bn in 2021), surpasses the combined GDPs of Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda, and Mauritius. Other states like Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Bayelsa possess significant oil wealth, while Ogun, Anambra, and Imo also contribute notably. This concentration of wealth raises questions about resource distribution and development across the country.
