Nigeria’s urban future at risk if rapid informal settlements are not checked – Don

A university don has warned that Nigeria's climate ambitions and urban future are at risk unless urgent action is taken to address the rapid growth of informal settlements. Professor Abdulazeez Raji, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Bayero University Kano, spoke at a conference, noting that over one billion people globally live in informal settlements, making them highly climate vulnerable. He stressed that Nigeria cannot achieve its emission reduction targets while leaving millions in unplanned communities.
