The recent disruption of Air Peace operations by unions has raised unresolved questions, with the airline reporting losses of about N2 billion. Passengers were stranded and flights disrupted, while the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority have not condemned the incident. A meeting convened by the Minister, Festus Keyamo, produced a temporary truce but did not address why Air Peace was targeted or whether the picketing was lawful under Section 43 of the relevant law. The incident also raises concerns about the role of unions as debt-collection agents and the failure of FAAN to prevent the invasion of its facilities.
