A new study in Ibadan has found that dietary patterns alone may not explain elevated blood pressure among children and adolescents. The research, led by Dr. M. D. Dairo with Adedeji Abdulrahmon Alayande as second author, revealed that boys have 60 percent higher odds of elevated diastolic blood pressure than girls. The findings suggest that other factors beyond diet may contribute to childhood hypertension in the area.
