The federal government has launched a N140 billion social protection programme aimed at reducing poverty and moving vulnerable Nigerians towards sustainable livelihoods. The scheme, named the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Social Protection Project (HOPE-SP), was unveiled at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja alongside four other initiatives. The programme is designed to provide economic empowerment and self-reliance rather than temporary palliatives, according to officials. The launch also included the One-Humanitarian-One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) and an Emergency Cash Transfer Programme.
