Africa risks over 6m health workers shortage – WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that Africa faces a shortage of over 6 million health workers. According to the report, the continent had an estimated 5.72 million health workers in 2024, which represents only about 46% of the workforce needed to meet its health needs. This shortage poses a significant challenge to healthcare delivery across the region.
