Emmanuel Ugboaja, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has died at the age of 60 after a protracted illness. He was the fifth General Secretary of the NLC and had served in the role since August 2019. Ugboaja was a veteran trade unionist and lawyer, known as the first Nigerian lawyer to work full-time for a trade union.
