Ugandan president’s son, Kainerugaba declares bid to succeed father in 2031

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has formally declared his intention to contest the country's presidency in 2031. Kainerugaba, who is also the army chief and heads the Patriotic League of Uganda, made the announcement in a series of posts on X, stating that he would win with the support of his father. He predicted a landslide victory, saying he would secure 90 per cent of the vote.
