South Africa: Committee on Public Works Calls for Urgent Action to Strengthen Operating Bring Back Government Properties

The Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure in South Africa has called for urgent action to strengthen Operation Bring Back (OBB), which aims to recover state properties illegally occupied or unlawfully transferred. The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure reported challenges including illegal occupation, land invasions, and unlawful commercial use of properties. The department has appointed four service providers at a cost of R237 million to assist in the recovery process.
