$1bn social fund: Reform without relief is cruelty — ADC tells Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the Federal Government's $1 billion social protection programme, calling it a belated response to the hardship caused by President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms. The party's national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, questioned the timing and funding of the programme, which was unveiled by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. ADC noted that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had previously warned of such consequences. The party argued that Nigerians have endured soaring costs for three years, and the intervention seems timed for the 2027 elections.
