A report by SBM Intelligence, a research think tank, has revealed that approximately 7,825 people were kidnapped in Nigeria over a one-year period, with at least N7.78 billion paid as ransom. The report further indicates that Boko Haram received over 90% of the ransom proceeds. The findings highlight the severity of kidnapping incidents in the country.
