The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the Federal Government's announcement of a $1 billion social protection fund, describing it as a panic reaction to Atiku Abubakar's plan to reverse fuel subsidy removal to reduce living costs if elected. In a statement, ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of impoverishing Nigerians through failed economic policies and attempting to buy them back with a hurriedly contrived palliative ahead of elections. The party questioned the sudden availability of funds after years of hardship and the role of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu in launching the programme.
