The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has set the first quarter of 2027 as the target for completing its new headquarters, known as The Barrel, in Abuja. The 10-storey facility, initiated in 2020, is designed to accommodate between 900 and 1,000 people and is located in the Central Business District. NUPRC stated that the speedy completion would improve operational efficiency and enhance Nigeria's appeal to investors in the oil and gas sector. Senator Magnus Abe, Chairman of the NUPRC Board, noted that the current arrangement could undermine Nigeria's image when dealing with major international oil and gas companies.
