Dollar General is adding more $1 items. It's stealing a page from supermarkets' playbook

Dollar General announced plans to expand its selection of $1 items by 40% in the second half of 2026, in time for the holiday shopping season. The company's 'Value Valley' section, featuring 600 items at $1, saw comparable sales growth of 16% in the second quarter, outpacing overall same-store sales growth of 3.5%. Dollar General currently stocks about 2,000 items at the $1 price point, with further expansion expected into 2027.
