President Bola Tinubu has directed a comprehensive reform of Nigerian football to address repeated failures to qualify for major tournaments. He tasked the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) to work with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat and relevant stakeholders, including FIFA and CAF, for a broad and consultative reform process. Tinubu noted that while other sports have progressed, football has struggled due to structural weaknesses. The reform aims to strengthen governance, administration, stakeholder representation, development pathways, domestic competitions, and accountability in Nigerian football.
