The Federal Government has launched a new five-year national alcohol policy aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm and tightening regulation. The policy, titled the Nigeria Alcohol Policy and Multisectoral Implementation Plan 2026–2030, provides a unified framework for government agencies and stakeholders to address health, social, and economic consequences of alcohol consumption. It includes measures to strengthen public education, responsible marketing, age and access controls, and improve safety and quality across the alcohol value chain.
