Govs: We Are Not to Blame for Alleged Failure to Account for Subsidy Proceeds

The 36 state governors, under the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF), have rejected allegations that sub-national governments failed to properly account for funds from the removal of fuel subsidy. The Forum's chairman, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, spoke through Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State after the Forum's third meeting in Abuja. Diri dismissed the suggestion that states should accept blame over the management of subsidy-removal proceeds, saying, 'That cannot be true.' The governors also expressed support for the proposed rollout of the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme.
