Nigeria to UN: Protect National Sovereignty at International Arbitration

The federal government has called on the United Nations to implement reforms that protect national sovereignty in arbitration disputes between investors and member-states. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, made the appeal at the Chief Legal Advisors Forum 2026 in Singapore. He also sought reforms to reinforce domestic courts in Investor-State Disputes Settlement. Fagbemi stated that the reforms would address inadequacies in the legal framework and protect investments and taxpayers.
