The federal government has launched a national strategy to mobilize $12 billion in capital for Nigeria's halal economy, aiming to tap into the $7 trillion global halal market. Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, spoke at a reception in Lagos. Shettima said Nigeria must not remain a consumer of halal products while other countries dominate production and trade. The strategy leverages Nigeria's consumer market, agricultural resources, manufacturing capacity, and access to the African Continental Free Trade Area.
