Shreya Mishra Reddy, a 34-year-old Indian national, has abandoned her plans to pursue an H-1B visa for the United States after learning that employers might face a $100,000 fee to hire her. Reddy, who completed a master's degree at Duke University and worked at Visa, had to leave the U.S. when her work authorization expired in January 2026. She is now considering options in Canada and India, expressing optimism about her future outside the U.S.
