President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that state governors have agreed to take immediate measures to reduce transportation costs by leveraging Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles. A joint Federal and State committee will implement the measures, with lower transport fares expected from October 1. The announcement follows a meeting with governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and comes amid an ongoing debate over fuel subsidies, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar proposing a redesigned subsidy regime.
