The Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA) has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) over a compulsory textbook ranking policy. The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Ibadan, challenges the legality of the Textbook Ranking Framework introduced by NERDC. The NPA argues that textbooks already assessed and approved by NERDC should not be subjected to another ranking exercise as a condition for their use, distribution, or sale. The defendants include the President, NERDC, the Minister of Education, and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
