The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has commended Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for reforms that are strengthening the state's financial sustainability and driving economic transformation. Speaking in a virtual goodwill message at the 35th anniversary lecture marking the creation of Abia State, she urged the government to develop the 'Made in Aba' label into a globally recognised brand. The lecture, themed 'The Rise of a New Abia,' was held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia. Okonjo-Iweala noted that the Otti administration had increased internally generated revenue and reduced dependence on Federation Account allocations.
