In South Sudan, a recent peace circle in Aweil brought together young people to share their experiences and listen to one another. Participants included those who had fled conflict in neighbouring Sudan, others who had returned home, and some who had grown up in Aweil. Among them was Akut Dut, a mother of six who fled Sudan after fighting erupted in 2023, saying she was scared for her children and decided to leave for safety. After leaving Sudan, Akut began knitting bedding to earn an income while adapting to a new chapter of her life. The peace circle in Northern Bahr el Ghazal provided a space for young people to share stories shaped by different life experiences, shared pain, and resilience.
