The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has stated that the establishment of the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development will end Nigeria's reliance on imported skilled labour. Speaking at the maiden graduation ceremony of 4,050 trainees at the institute's Balarabe Musa campus, the minister, represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof Idris Bugaje, urged industries to recruit graduates from the institute. Bugaje lamented that Nigeria still imports skilled workers from ECOWAS and Asian countries, and commended Governor Uba Sani for creating a hub for skills manpower.
