The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported a significant decline in cholera cases from their peak earlier this year, but warned that transmission remains ongoing. The Director-General, Dr. Jide Idris, disclosed during a press briefing that over 65,000 suspected cholera cases have been recorded across 35 states and about 195 Local Government Areas this year. He noted that the case fatality rate is lower than the same period last year, but emphasized that the outbreak is not over. Idris cautioned that transmission could increase between late August and October.
