Nigeria can cut oil production costs with local chemicals — Engineer

A Nigerian chemical engineer, Godswill Chidiebere Agomuo, has called for increased local production of specialised oilfield chemicals to reduce operating costs and strengthen technical capacity in the oil and gas industry. He noted that Nigeria's crude oil production costs are among the highest in OPEC+, at about $40 per barrel, compared to the bloc's average of $10. Agomuo, who has over two decades of experience, said locally formulated chemicals could be adapted to Nigerian crude characteristics.
