A couple traveling to Las Vegas for a private elopement unexpectedly got married mid-flight after Southwest Airlines crew members turned their journey into a surprise wedding ceremony. Sara Arroyo Montalvo and her partner had planned to exchange vows privately after arriving, but flight attendants organized an impromptu ceremony aboard the aircraft on August 13. The plane's captain, who is also an ordained minister, officiated the wedding in front of 178 passengers. The crew created wedding accessories from available items, including a veil and a dress made from toilet paper for Montalvo.
