The rapid growth of AI data centers is causing a shortage of memory chips used in everyday devices such as laptops, phones, and gaming consoles. Major chipmakers like SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron are shifting production to High Bandwidth Memory for AI data centers, reducing output of DRAM and NAND chips. As a result, tech manufacturers are paying higher prices for components and passing these costs to consumers.
