The Chairman of Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh, has revealed that approximately 57% of technology products procured by Nigerian government ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as corporate organizations, are refurbished items presented as new. He attributed this practice to a failure to respect the genuine local partnership structures established by foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers in Nigeria, and described the practice as fraudulent. Ekeh called for appropriate sanctions against firms found culpable, noting that the revelation comes as Nigeria seeks to build a more competitive, digitally driven economy. He made these remarks at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port Harcourt.
