A 55-year-old woman, Fatima, has recounted the terror of bandit attacks in Zamfara State, describing the impossible choices residents face. She told the BBC that bandits attacked her community at 2am, dividing into three groups to surround the village. Fatima said residents are shot if they try to flee and risk abduction if they stay. She noted that one nearby village has been completely deserted, with not even a chicken left.
