Valon, an AI startup, has implemented a policy requiring most new hires to learn their jobs without using AI tools. CEO Andrew Wang introduced the policy last month after observing that employees were using expensive AI models for simple tasks, which he believed was costly and hindered new workers' understanding of their roles. Wang, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, stated that doing basic work without AI helps employees form a better grasp of their jobs. The policy is expected to reduce the company's annualized token-spending by approximately 75%.
