Uganda's Committee on Government Assurances and Implementation has expressed concern over stalled construction of several bridges in the countryside. During a week-long oversight visit to districts including Manafwa, Tororo, Madi-Okollo, and Arua, lawmakers found that works on bridges in the West Nile sub-region have stalled despite available funds. For instance, Shs28 billion was allocated for Odrua, Alla, and Osu bridges in Arua District, but works have stalled since 2021. The committee cited non-compensation of project affected persons, exclusion of local authorities, poor drainage, and other issues as reasons for the delays.
