The source of the attack remained unclear, and authorities had not issued an official statement as of Saturday morning. Residents reported hearing gunfire and explosions starting at about 1am local time and continuing until daybreak. Social media also indicated gunfire in other parts of the capital, including the administrative district where the presidential palace is located.
