NMA Raises Alarm Over Doctors’ Exodus, Insecurity, Demands Urgent Action

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has expressed concern over the deteriorating conditions for healthcare workers in Nigeria, citing poor remuneration, insecurity, and difficult working conditions as factors accelerating the migration of medical professionals. The association made this known at a press conference following its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja. The NEC, which is the highest policy-making body of the association, brought together representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to discuss healthcare delivery and welfare issues. While acknowledging government investments in healthcare infrastructure, the NMA stressed that physical infrastructure alone cannot ensure quality healthcare without adequate investment in the workforce.
