Professor Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin of the Department of Computer Science at Lagos State University has recommended that the federal government invest in building AI readiness infrastructure. He also urged Africa to be intentional in building AI datasets as institutional datasets. Speaking at the 127th LASU inaugural lecture, Enikuomehin noted that societies are shaped by their dominant technologies and that those benefiting most from AI will adopt it thoughtfully. He cautioned against the illusion that digital systems are neutral and called for protecting the vulnerable from algorithmic harm, treating universal broadband connectivity as a public utility.
