Nigerian Homes Breaking Under Career Obsession, Says University Don

Professor Hannah Etta, a Professor of Genetics and Biotechnology at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), has warned that many Nigerian homes are disintegrating because parents prioritise career goals over giving their children quality upbringing. She described this phenomenon as 'Career Obsession' and said it is eroding family values and creating broken homes. Etta stated this at the 12th inaugural lecture of the university, themed 'Links, Linkages and Missing Links: From DNA Backbone To Social Cohesion'. She noted that the pressure to succeed professionally has led many parents to neglect their parental responsibilities.
