Nollywood actor Francis Duru has stated that Yoruba filmmakers have surpassed their Igbo counterparts in cinema releases and streaming platforms because they organised themselves early and protected their cultural stories, while Igbo producers failed to do the same. Duru made these remarks on Gbam, a programme aired on the Yan Content Factory YouTube channel on Friday. He attributed the success of Yoruba films to their proactive approach and preservation of cultural narratives. The actor's comments highlight the disparity in the Nigerian film industry's regional output.
