Hon. Desmond Stephen, a philanthropist and grassroots politician from Okrika, has resigned from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP). In a resignation letter dated May 25, 2026, Stephen expressed gratitude to the NDC for the opportunities and political experience gained. He stated that the decision was made after careful reflection and aligns with his commitment to serve Okrika with renewed energy. Stephen is now the ADP's candidate for Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, citing the party's alignment with his vision for education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
