More People, More Trash: Hamzat blames influx for Lagos waste surge

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Hamzat, has attributed the surge in waste generation to the continuous influx of people into the state. He announced that the government will deploy 220 newly-acquired compactor trucks to strengthen waste evacuation efforts. The additional trucks will complement the operations of Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators and expand the state's capacity to manage refuse, particularly in areas where existing arrangements are struggling to meet demand.
