‘We’re back in control’ – Russia helps Niger junta to retake military base

Niger's presidential guard, with Russian assistance, recaptured a key military base in Niamey from mutinous soldiers. The recapture was confirmed by diplomatic and security sources. Several rebelling soldiers were reportedly killed. The ruling junta, led by General Abdourahamane Tiani, said it was back in control after the clashes.
