The European Union (EU) has expressed support for a nationwide, citizen-led election observation exercise ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general election, under its Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria programme. The initiative aims to strengthen domestic election observation and enable citizens to independently monitor and assess the electoral process. The Election Observation Hub, which has been deployed in three off-cycle elections, will be deployed nationally for the fourth time. More than 3,000 election observers and 774 long-term observers are planned for deployment across Nigeria's local government areas.
