The First Niger Bridge in Onitsha, Anambra State, is facing a new threat as vandals are reportedly removing steel components, bolts, and expansion joints from the 60-year-old structure. The damage was discovered during an inspection by Minister of Works David Umahi on August 27, who expressed anger over the theft. The bridge, which connects Onitsha and Asaba, has been vital for transportation for six decades. Authorities are investigating the vandalism to prevent further deterioration of the bridge's structural integrity.
