The Federal Government has emphasized the importance of early cancer detection, stating that the stage at which the disease is diagnosed determines the treatment approach and chances of cure. Dr. Uchechukwu Nwokwu, National Coordinator of the National Cancer Control Plan (NCCP) at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, explained that cancer progresses through four stages. Nwokwu said Stage One cancer remains within the area where it originated and has not spread.
