Alleged Cybercrime: DSS Halts Sowore’s Prosecution to Allow Participation in 2027 Campaign

The Department of State Service (DSS) has ordered the immediate suspension of its case against Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), over alleged cyber-bullying. The DSS stated that the suspension is to allow Sowore to participate fully in the ongoing campaign for the forthcoming presidential election. The DSS had approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to seek judicial interpretation on the propriety of Sowore calling President Bola Tinubu a 'criminal' in a social media post on August 25, 2025.
