The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, announced that agencies under his ministry generated ₦1.83 trillion in 2025, a 160% increase from ₦700.79 billion in 2023. He attributed the growth to regulatory reforms, revenue assurance, digitisation, and efforts to eliminate financial leakages. Oyetola presented the ministry's three-year scorecard, highlighting gains in revenue generation, port infrastructure, maritime security, regulation, indigenous shipping, human capital development, fisheries, and inland-waterway safety. He also noted intensified efforts to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria's 853-kilometre coastline.
