The local government chairmanship and councillorship elections in Anambra State were largely peaceful on Saturday, with voters turning out across polling units in the state's 21 local government areas. Unlike previous elections, ballot materials arrived early at most locations. At St. Mary's Catholic Church, Isingwu, Oraifite Ward 1 in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, the APGA chairmanship candidate, Hon. Ifeanyi Onuchukwu, cast his vote at about 10:30am. Officials of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) were receiving results from polling units across the council area.
