Former Cross River State governor and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Donald Duke, has described Nigeria's petrol subsidy debate as a 'scam', asserting that petrol could sell for about N200 per litre if the country properly harnesses its crude oil and other energy resources. His comments come amid differing positions from President Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi on subsidy removal. Tinubu abolished the subsidy in May 2023, while Atiku has advocated targeted subsidies and Obi supports removal with transparent investment of savings.
